My name is Kevin Stanford and I lost my father to prostate cancer March 29, 2007. My father was a U.S. Air Force disabled Veteran and devoted family man. To help me cope with the loss and to pay respect to my dad, I wrote a song called “With You Again.” When I wrote the song, it was just for me and I really had no intentions of ever making it public. However, as I shared it with people who have gone through similar circumstances, I realized that there were others out there who were feeling some of the same things that I felt.
I’ve decided to put together a video for my song and I’d like to ask for pictures or video footage from anyone who would also like to honor their loved ones. The video will incorporate a slide show that will start with a picture of my father. At the bottom of the screen, his name, the year he was born, the year that he died and the type of cancer that he died from will appear. It will then fade to a picture of my dad and me with a single-sentence description of one thing he taught me. My description will read, “Taught me how to be a man.”
I’d like to do this same process with as many photos/videos of your loved ones as I can fit comfortably into my four-minute video. For all of the pictures/videos that do not get included in the video, they will be included in the “Angel Lane” for viewing.
I will also be donating a portion of the proceeds from the iTunes sales of this song to the American Cancer Society because hopefully, one day, nobody will ever have to go through this again because of cancer. For picture and video specifications, visit Angel Lane.
